Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Fort Portal & Nyakasura Crater Hike
- Morning: Your journey begins with a 7:00 AM departure from Kampala or Entebbe. The drive takes you through the scenic countryside of central Uganda. We will stop at local roadside markets to experience authentic Ugandan snacks and fresh seasonal fruits.
- Afternoon: Arrive in Fort Portal for lunch. Proceed to the Nyakasura area for a hike to the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves—a site rich in local folklore. Continue the hike to the surrounding hills for a spectacular view of the volcanic crater lakes and farmland.
- Evening: Transfer to your lodge located on the edge of the Kibale Forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Walk
- Morning: After an early breakfast, proceed to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing. Enter the rainforest with expert guides to track habituated chimpanzees. While tracking, look for other primates including L’hoest monkeys, Red Colobus, and the endemic Uganda Mangabey. Once found, you will spend an hour observing the chimpanzees as they swing through the canopy and interact.
- Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a community-led nature walk. This is a prime spot for birding (including the Great Blue Turaco) and observing various monkey species. This walk offers a direct look into African community settings and local women-led development projects.
- Evening: Return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 3: Scenic Drive & Return to Kampala
- Morning: Enjoy breakfast at leisure while taking in the sounds of the forest.
- Mid-Morning: Begin the drive back to Kampala. The route offers excellent photographic opportunities of the vast tea estates and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.
- Afternoon: Stop for a final safari lunch and souvenir shopping.
- Evening: Drop off at your preferred location in Kampala or transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your departure.
